The avocado fraternity in Kenya is mourning the passing of Agronomist Thadeaus Omari, with the Avocado Society of Kenya (ASOK) describing his death as a great loss to the industry.
In a message of condolence, ASOK Chief Executive Officer Ernest Muthoni said the society received the news of Omari’s passing with deep sorrow, remembering him for his professionalism, passion and dedication to avocado production.
Omari was known to the society through his work as an Agronomist at Sirwo Farm in Cherangany, Trans Nzoia County, where his contribution helped the farm establish itself among Kenya’s outstanding avocado orchards.
Sirwo Farm was recognised at the 2025 Kenya Avocado Excellence Awards, highlighting the standards of production and excellence achieved at the farm.
“His professionalism, passion and dedication contributed to making the farm one of Kenya’s outstanding avocado orchards,” Muthoni said in the tribute.
The Avocado Society of Kenya extended its heartfelt condolences to Omari’s family, colleagues and friends, saying his commitment to avocado farming and excellence would be greatly missed.
“His dedication to avocado farming and excellence will be greatly missed,” the society said.
The tribute comes as the avocado sector continues to recognise the contribution of agronomists and other technical professionals whose work supports growers in improving production, quality and sustainability across the industry.
