Global potato value chain to converge in Kenya

WPC2026 Kenya is expected to bring together farmers, researchers, industry leaders, technology providers, policymakers, development organisations and businesses from around the world. The event will provide a platform for stakeholders to exchange knowledge, develop partnerships and explore solutions to challenges facing potato production and wider food systems. Participants will have access to an international scientific and industry programme, networking opportunities and an exhibition showcasing technologies and innovations relevant to the potato value chain.

A key feature of the congress will also be the Farmers Field Day, designed to take innovation beyond the conference setting and demonstrate technologies and practices directly in the field. The inclusion of a major global agricultural technology company such as Syngenta comes as the potato sector continues to seek innovations that can improve productivity, strengthen crop resilience and support more sustainable production.

Kenya set to host global potato industry

The hosting of WPC2026 in Naivasha will place Kenya at the centre of international discussions on the future of potato production. The congress is expected to provide opportunities for local farmers, researchers, agribusinesses and other value-chain players to connect with international companies, experts and investors. For Kenya’s potato industry, the event also offers an opportunity to showcase local production systems while gaining exposure to technologies, research and business models from other potato-producing regions.

Syngenta’s sponsorship is therefore expected to contribute to the wider industry dialogue around innovation and sustainable agricultural production. The World Potato Congress organisers have welcomed the company to the event and expressed appreciation for its support of the international gathering. WPC2026 Kenya will run from 26 to 30 October 2026 in Naivasha, bringing the global potato community together under one platform to explore the technologies, partnerships and solutions that could shape the future of the crop.
