Murang’a County  to Launch the  Agriculture Subsidy Fund to Boost Farming

On Sunday, April 2nd, 2023, the Governor of Murang’a County will host Professor Njuguna Ndungu to launch the Agriculture Subsidy Fund. This initiative marks a pivotal moment for the county’s agricultural sector, as it aims to revive and rejuvenate the industry which suffered a massive blow in the 1980s following the decimation of the Cooperative movement.

The event will be attended by key stakeholders in the agriculture sector and promises to provide a platform for setting the county’s strategic direction towards agriculture and agribusiness. In attendance will be the two most promising men in the county, who will share their insights on how to achieve this goal.

Recent developments in the county’s agricultural sector include the establishment of the KALRO National Headquarters for their Seed Centers and the promise to set up Tea and Coffee Academies at Marīira. The county government has also pledged to make the School of Agriculture at Murang’a University an autonomous University College, thereby solidifying its commitment to the development of the sector.

The launch of the Agriculture Subsidy Fund is a critical step towards realizing the vision of making Murang’a the epicenter of agricultural development. The county aims to walk the talk as it seeks to make farmers taste agricultural riches once more.

The public is invited to join the launch event at Gatunyu and be part of the critical announcements that will shape the Murang’a Kilimo agenda.
