Maasai Flowers has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental conservation and community development by partnering with residents of Acacia Estate in Kitengela in a tree-planting exercise aimed at increasing green cover and strengthening the long-standing relationship between the flower farm and its neighbouring community.

“It is good to have good neighbours,” Kulei said. “As the estate develops, it is important that we continue nurturing this relationship. There is a saying that our legacy is planting trees for others to enjoy. These trees are not just for us—they are for the children of this estate and future generations. We are proud to work together with the community in building a greener and more sustainable environment.”

Kulei said the tree-planting exercise reflects the company’s belief that environmental conservation and community development go hand in hand, adding that Maasai Flowers will continue supporting initiatives that create lasting benefits for residents.

Maasai Flowers General Manager Nicholas Kadiri reiterated the company’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and collaboration with its neighbours.

Kadiri said Maasai Flowers has enjoyed a cordial relationship with the surrounding communities and remains committed to supporting projects that improve livelihoods and local infrastructure.

“We have lived very well and peacefully with this community,” he said. “There are still projects under discussion, including drainage improvements and culvert works, and we are committed to finding sustainable solutions that benefit everyone. We look forward to strengthening this partnership even further.”

Kadiri also highlighted the company’s community engagement programmes and expressed interest in expanding initiatives that bring residents together while promoting social and environmental responsibility.

On behalf of the residents, Acacia Estate Organising Secretary John Messa expressed appreciation for the donation of tree seedlings and the continued partnership with Maasai Flowers.

He said the seedlings would be distributed and planted throughout the wider Acacia neighbourhood to enhance environmental conservation and improve the area’s landscape.

“We are truly grateful for this gesture,” Messa said. “These trees will transform our neighbourhood, and we are committed to ensuring they are planted and cared for across the estate. We look forward to continuing our partnership in making our community greener.”

Residents selecting and picking Tress to plant

Residents, community leaders and representatives from Maasai Flowers concluded the event by planting tree seedlings across Acacia Estate, symbolising their shared commitment to environmental conservation, climate resilience and sustainable community development.

The initiative highlights the increasingly important role that Kenya’s floriculture industry continues to play beyond flower production, with companies such as Maasai Flowers investing in environmental sustainability and improving the quality of life in the communities surrounding their operations.

The tree-planting exercise demonstrated that the relationship between Maasai Flowers and Acacia Estate extends far beyond being neighbours. Through continued investment in environmental conservation and community development, the company is helping to create a cleaner, greener and more resilient future for the people living around its operations.

With the planting of hundreds of tree seedlings, the initiative not only contributes to climate change mitigation and biodiversity conservation but also leaves a lasting legacy for future generations. As residents pledged to nurture the young trees to maturity, the event stood as a powerful reminder that meaningful partnerships between the private sector and local communities can deliver lasting social and environmental impact.

For Maasai Flowers, the initiative reflects a broader commitment to corporate social responsibility—one rooted in sustainable development, environmental stewardship and the belief that thriving communities are essential to a thriving floriculture industry. By working hand in hand with local residents, the company continues to demonstrate that growing flowers can go hand in hand with growing stronger communities and protecting the environment.
