The Permanent Mission of Bahrain in Vienna under the patronage of HRH Prime Minister in partnership with the World Peace and Love Association (FOBAL) have launched the International Day of Conscience meant to foster and champion peaceful ways of resolving global conflict.
The Prime Minister while lauding the idea emphasized the importance of adhering to peaceful means to solve international problems and disputes in order to eliminate the causes of tension that hinder the development efforts in the world.
The international community, he added, should work in accordance with more integrated policies in the face of the challenges that many countries of the world are facing, including poverty, destitution and diseases, he said.
The global conscience should be more positive, and should move more vigorously in tackling all the causes that shake global security and stability, and to ensure that the collective action approach should be oriented to establishing the foundations of peace that would provide the climate enabling peoples to pursue development efforts he further said.
“Today’s world is facing consecutive events and changes that put it face to face with many political, economic, and social challenges. In the Kingdom of Bahrain, we, along with the rest of the world countries, are committed to the framework of the international order, to consecrate efforts for security, peace, stability, and economic prosperity in all world regions and countries,” the Premier said in a message read out on his behalf by Dr. Yousef Abdul Karim Bujairi, Bahrain’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva.
According to the Prime Minister, the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, supports all international efforts that seek to promote the culture of peace as a pressing need for humanity in order to uphold the values of civilization. He stressed that Bahrain has become a symbol of the values of openness, moderation, and tolerance that accommodate everybody.
He highlighted the importance of launching the International Day of Conscience as a global event that deserves to be marked, affirming that efforts should continue to preserve the right to a secure and stable life, as well as a sustainable development that promotes human well-being.
“We believe in the necessity of action by the international community to map a comprehensive visualization for dealing with the security, political, and economic challenges. This is because improving humanity’s conditions begins by establishing peace and ensuring the requirements for security and stability for all states. We in the international community must join hands to be able to live in the peace and security we seek.”
The Prime Minister said that the international conscience is accountable today for the extent of its seriousness in dealing with the tragic conditions of many peoples resulting from conflicts, food shortages, aridity, and epidemics. He said that international conscience was also accountable on what measures it has adopted to protect the weaker and more underprivileged groups, particularly children, women, and the elderly, who are facing dangers because of the anarchy that has become a permanent reality in many countries. He said this must prompt the international conscience to seek to deal with these problems as an important means for confronting and ending all forms of fanaticism, violence, and terrorism that threaten the world and its future.
The day will be marked on April 5 every year.
