CropLife Morocco and CropLife Africa Middle East are set to make a significant impact at the upcoming Fruit Council in Agadir from February 19 to 21. The event, dedicated to advancing the fruit and vegetable sector, will spotlight innovative solutions that address pressing challenges such as digitalization, logistics, biotechnology, and water stress management—all in line with the national Generation Green initiative.

In a notable collaboration with AgroTech, CropLife will present the Empty Pesticides Container Pilot Project, a groundbreaking initiative launched in 2023 in Morocco’s Souss-Massa region. Home to nearly 30-35% of the country’s empty pesticide containers, the region faces serious health and environmental risks when these containers are not handled correctly. Recognizing this, CropLife Morocco, together with CropLife Africa & Middle East and the AgroTech Association, implemented a sustainable management project as part of the broader “Sustainable Pesticide Management Framework” initiated in 2022.

The pilot project involved comprehensive training for farmers on the proper collection and safe disposal of empty pesticide containers. As a result, the initiative successfully gathered 42.34 tons of empty packaging, which were then repackaged, transported, and incinerated by Geocycle in full compliance with current legislation. This effort not only mitigates potential hazards but also plays a crucial role in promoting a circular economy within Morocco.
