Ksh80 million for Kilimo Faida

Agricultural financier Orion has announced plans to increase the loan fund for its re-launched Kilimo Faida microfinance programme to Ksh80 million.
The move is aimed at expanding the reach of the unique microfinance solution to more farmers. “We are seeking initial Ksh20 million of funding guarantees to expand this programme. Based on the expected success of this initial stage, we are aiming to raise a loan fund of Ksh80 million by the end of this year.
“From the feedback we have received from farmers and especially co-operatives, it is clear that there is significant demand for Kilimo Faida services,” said Orion East Africa chief executive officer Ruo Maina.
