Hi John
Narumoro district, Kiamathaga sub-location in Nyeri County is in the highlands. You can plant purple passion in between the rows of avocado to maximize the production unit. Please acquire passion fruit plant material or seed from KARI-Thika at karithika12@gmail.com, karithika@africaonline.co.ke or call at Centre Wireless 2055038.
Windbreaker - In windy places it is recommended to plant a 3-teir hedge row. I recommend a row of gravilea on the edge of the field or farm, the second row of closely planted Cyprus and a third row of kiapple.
Maize pollen cannot affect other plants unless it is too much so that it deposits on other plants blocking the light and thus reducing
chlorophyll function. To reduce this effect, plant maize on the lee-ward and not on the wind-ward side.
Concerning use of fertilizer DAP and CAN please let use know on what crop.
